Description

When Jeep stepped up to the new JL, we knew we had to step up our CB kit as well. Our new JL kit includes everything you need and doesn't leave any space for you to question if you got the right "stuff." This kit's built around the Cobra 75, the same CB we have in our JK kit as it's known for durability and compact size. This kit gives you two mount options, one attaching to the JL fender using existing bolts and the other attaching to the tailgate. Both give you a clean install that has a sufficient ground plane. A JL-specific microphone mount gives you a place to keep your CB so it's not sitting in the cup holder. Treat your JL to the CB setup it deserves - a complete package designed specifically with JL drivers in mind.

 *Important Note: the 9' Ring cable is out of stock and all kits are shipping with an 18' Ring cable 7/31/2020. This change only affects the front fender mounted antenna kits.

Recommended for: JL Jeep owners who need a durable, long-lasting CB system that is quick and easy to install.
Radio: This kit is built around the Cobra 75 WX ST handheld CB. The Cobra 75 is ideal for Jeep and off-road vehicle owners who need an extremely compact CB unit, as all radio components are contained within the handset. Antenna attachment, power wiring and an external speaker hookup all run through a small mounting box that can be tucked away for a clean installation. The radio includes 10 weather channels for monitoring conditions while on the trail, plus an extended 2-year warranty for peace of mind.

Antenna:

The kit provides two antenna options in 3' and 4' lengths:

  • Firestik FS (Black): The Firestik FS series is the most popular fiberglass CB antenna on the market today due to its transmit and receive performance. Also, you can add a CB spring to the antenna and mount to provide limited flexibility if desired. If optimal range is most important, the Firestik FS antenna is a better choice than the Firestik Firefly.
  • Firestik Firefly (Black): On the trail, it's convenient to have an antenna that can survive getting snagged, bent, bowed and abused. Meet the Firefly, an antenna that is flexible but still has great performance. These 4' antennas provide protection against snapping and hold up well to the rigors of off-road use. While super flexible, they don't offer the same level of transmit and receive performance of the Firestik FS.

Mounting Hardware:

This kit gives you the option between two factory-looking mounts:

The Jeep JL CB Antenna Fender Mount is made of 12-gauge stainless steel and attaches to the driver side hood rail on the JL.

The Jeep JL Teraflex CB Antenna Mount allows you to mount a CB antenna and flag whip using the same mount in existing holes in the tailgate for a clean installation.

Additional Information:

This kit also includes a Mopar External Speaker, JL Microphone Mount, CB Coax Cable, and SWR Meter.

  • External Speaker: The Cobra's small speaker can occasionally be difficult to hear, especially over the roar of a revving Jeep engine. That's why we include the Mopar external speaker to ensure clear communication in noisy environments. The speaker has a Jeep insignia on the front and comes with a mounting bracket for easy installation anywhere in the vehicle cab.
  • SWR Meter & Jumper: Every kit includes an SWR Meter with Jumper Cable to tune your antenna for optimal performance. If you're not familiar with the tuning process, you can read why it's important and how to do it properly at the CB Resources page.

Help me choose

Picking Your Antenna

Firestik FS (Black):  Unless you need a super flexible antenna, we'd recommend choosing the Firestik FS. It's our best selling antenna, provides top-notch performance, and can still achieve some flexibility with a spring. For length, we recommend the 4' over the 3' if possible as it will give you an additional 1-2 miles range.

Firestik Firefly (Black):  If you know you'll be on driving into overhanging brush, your garage door or anything else, we recommend the Firestik Firefly. It is much more flexible and forgiving than the Firestik FS, but you do sacrifice some performance. However, the Firefly is often easier to tune in than the Firestik FS as it has a wider frequency band.

Choosing a Mount

This kit gives you the option of two different factory-looking mounts depending on your desired mounting location: the Jeep JL Cb Antenna Fender Mount attaches to the hood frame on the driver's sid while the Teraflex JL CB Antenna Mount attaches to the tailgate and also provides room for a flag whip. 12-gauge stainless steel and attaches to the driver side hood rail on the JL.
